Rubber Adhesion Promoter
Shepherd has manufactured rubber adhesion promoters since 1970’s since the invention of steel belted radial tires. As one of the original manufacturers, Shepherd currently supplies to 17 of the top 20 radial tire companies globally.
- Theories on the Effect of Cobalt Carboxylates:
- 1. Increases crosslink density of rubber.
- 2. Reacts with S (Sulfur); Forms strong CoS (Cobalt Sulfide) Bond.
- 3. Adds to crystallinity & structure of CuxS layer.
- 4. Added crystallinity, added strength.
- 5. Structure to CuxS for resin to bond.
- 6. Decreases electric conductivity of Zn.
- 7. Suppressing dezincification and growth of the ZnO layer when the CuxS layer stops.
